Turkish star Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) enjoyed a perfect weekend at Misano, claiming victory in all three races – Race 1, the Superpole Race and Race 2 – to close the gap in the championship fight.
Race One
Toprak Razgatlioglu took a commanding victory in the opening race at Misano, overcoming early pressure from Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). Despite briefly losing the lead to Bulega in the early laps, Razgatlioglu regained control and built a small but steady gap throughout the second half of the race.
Bulega, who had to start from fourth due to a grid penalty, settled for second, unable to match Razgatlioglu’s late pace. Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) completed the podium after a race-long battle with Alex Lowes (Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team), who just missed out on third by 0.140s.
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) took fifth, with Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) being promoted to sixth after a post-race penalty for Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) for track limits violations. Andrea Iannone crashed out early from 11th, while Axel Bassani also failed to finish after an early high-side.
Superpole Race
Drama unfolded on the very first lap of the 10-lap Superpole Race as Axel Bassani collided with Nicolo Bulega in Turn 1, taking both riders out of contention. With the front row shaken up, Toprak Razgatlioglu took full advantage, pulling clear at the front and cruising to a dominant sprint win.
Alex Lowes held off pressure from Andrea Locatelli to finish second, securing a double podium for Bimota and Yamaha respectively. Petrucci and Bautista completed the top five, with Sam Lowes in sixth and Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) seventh.
Further down the order, Iannone received a double long-lap penalty for a jump start, while Remy Gardner and Yari Montella both crashed out in separate incidents.
Race Two
Razgatlioglu capped off a flawless weekend with a commanding win in Race 2, taking the chequered flag nearly ten seconds ahead of Bulega after leading from start to finish. The BMW rider managed the race masterfully, building a large gap early on and maintaining it until the end.
Bulega delivered a strong comeback from tenth on the grid, fighting through the field to secure second ahead of Bautista, who claimed his second podium of the weekend with a measured ride. Locatelli finished fourth, just missing out, while Petrucci took fifth after an early scrap with the Yamahas.
Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) impressed with a solid sixth-place finish, ahead of Sam Lowes and Garrett Gerloff. Jonathan Rea and Scott Redding both crashed out in the final laps, and Iannone’s recovery ride from the back ended with a fall two laps from the finish.
